Random color generator.
The random_color function is useful
for generating a single random color. However, if you a dealing with a large
number of objects the random_color_generator
function can be used to generate
a large number of random color values at once.
By default rgb color values will be generated. Greyscale values can be returned
by specifying the type
value.
Since this function returns a generator object you will need to wrap it in a
list()
or call the next()
method on the generator. See the
examples section below for usage.
syntax
random_color_generator(n)
parameters
n | number of color values |
optional arguments
type | type of color value: "rgb" (default) or "greyscale" |
examples
point cloud with random color values
def init(): vertices = list(random_vertex_generator(500, -5, 5)) colors = list(random_color_generator(500)) Global.points = PointCloud(vertices, colors) def display(): lighting(False) Global.points.pointSize(2.0) Global.points.draw()
cubes with random greyscale values
def init(): Global.points = list(random_vertex_generator(50, -10, 10)) Global.colors = list(random_color_generator(50, type="greyscale")) def display(): lighting(False) for col, pos in zip(Global.colors, Global.points): color(col) pushMatrix() translate(pos) cube(0.5) popMatrix()
